HRL 2001 Tournament Rules
- 1. No base running.
- 2. Teams shall carry at
least 1 and no more than 5 players on their roster.
- 3. Teams may field 3 players
or less on defense, but may have up to 5 batters. (No DH or PH)
- 4. Substitutions are permitted
at any time
- 5. Strike zone is 20"
X 30" and is 12" off the ground. A pitch hitting the
strike zone is a strike.
- 6. A pitched ball that
hits the batter is a ball, the batter does not take a base when
hit.
- 7. Line calls are made
by the fielder closest to the play.
- 8. Pitch Count:
a. 6 balls is a walk
b. Any combination of 2 strikes of fouls is an out (K).
c. A swing and a miss is an out.
- 9. Pitching speed is 35
mph., enforced by game side roving umps.
- 10. Pitching mound is 42'
from strike zone. Singles line is at 42'. Doubles line is at
62'. Fence is approximately 80' from home plate. Any balls hitting
the fence in the air is a triple, balls hit over the fence is
a homerun.
- 11. Foul Balls:
a. Any ball not reaching the singles line in fair territory.
b. Ground ball outside of foul lines when reaching the singles
line.
c. Fly ball landing in foul ground, touched in foul ground, or
going wide of foul poles.
- 12. Singles
a. Any ball reaching the singles line in fair ground.
b. Ground ball not fielded cleanly in front of the singles line,
no bobbles allowed. If bobbled, then base hit.
c. Fair fly ball touched but not caught short of the singles
line.
- 13. Doubles - Fair ball
reaching the doubles line in the air, not hitting the fence (in
the air)
- 14. Triples - Fair ball
that hits the fence in the air.
- 15. Double Plays - Fly
ball or line drive caught and then thrown immediately at the
strike zone. If the throw hits the strike zone, double play.
Runners don't advance on errant throw.
- 16. "Ghost Runners"
advance as many bases as the hitter.
- 17. Only official Wiffleball
brand baseball size wiffle balls are to be used. They will be
provided.
- 18. Balls may be lightly
scuffed. A ball with a crack larger than ¼" may not
be used.
- 19. Plastic of aluminum
bats (with or without tape) may be used.
- 20. All players must play
bare handed (No Gloves). Players may only use batting gloves
when batting.
- 21. Fielders can position
as they wish in fair territory without obstructing the batter.
- 22. Each game is 6 innings
long, 3 outs per side. If the game goes to the 8th inning the
inning starts
- with the bases loaded.
- 23. Games are official
after 4 innings, with a 10 run mercy rule after 4 innings.
- 24. Unruly conduct will
not be tolerated, this includes drunkenness. The tournament director
and staff reserve the right to ostracize any wiffler, fan or
guest that is deemed unruly.
- 25. Teams will play in
divisions of anywhere from 4 to 7 teams, guaranteeing at least
4 games on Saturday. The top 2 teams from each division will
advance to the playoff rounds on Sunday. There will also be several
wildcard spots open to deserving teams.
- 26. Tie Breakers:
a. Total runs scored
b. Least runs allowed
c. Head to head record
- 27. Cash prizes will be
given to the Winner and the Runner-Up. The amount of money is
dependent on the number of entries.
- 28. THERE WILL BE NO ACOHOL
ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES, AND NONE WILL BE SERVED. However, there
will be burgers, hot-dogs, soda, and water, and all that good
stuff available.
- 29. Teams must report to
the field by 10 AM or be subject to forfeit.
All
equipment is subject to inspection and approval by the Tournament
Director and Staff! |
